If you’re reading this, you’re probably either bored and curious what destinations made the list or (more likely) recently engaged and planning your wedding and honeymoon. First off, CONGRATS! Second, you’ve come to the right place. We consider our travels together a bit of a never-ending honeymoon, so over the years, we have ventured on a number of trips that may as well have been a honeymoon in their own right. If you have been following Couple’s Coordinates for a while, you’ve probably read our Bora Bora Honeymoon Guide and seen videos or blog tips from our wedding at Four Seasons Bora Bora. The truth is, we had an incredible honeymoon in Bora Bora, but every couple has different desires, budgets, etc. Not everyone wants to lay on a beach in the middle of the pacific ocean, swim with sharks, and have sex in an overwater bungalow on their honeymoon. Some couples would prefer a city or mountain destination, or perhaps even the desert? Some couples want an adventure-packed honeymoon destination. So, we have created a list of our best honeymoon destinations so that no matter your budget, you can plan an incredible trip with your new spouse.
Well, obviously this was going to be #1 on the list. Bora Bora is one of the most naturally beautiful, romantic, pristine locations on the planet. Anyone who tells you that Bora Bora is, “Really pretty, but kinda boring,” hasn’t been. Bora Bora is easily the most beautiful island we have ever been to, but it is just as exciting as it is beautiful. Bora Bora is not just for laying on the beach and having sex in overwater bungalows…it’s about swimming with sharks and playing with stingrays, riding jet skis, exploring surrounding islands and meeting local Polynesians, eating poisson cru, and snorkeling/diving with schools of fish. We believe Bora Bora is the best honeymoon destination in the world and we highly recommend Four Seasons Bora Bora.
Want an island honeymoon but not a tropical one? Santorini provides a unique island vibe with it’s red and black beaches, massive cliffs, and of course, the ubiquitous white buildings that cover the island. It is a picture-perfect destination and a fantastic place for a destination wedding or honeymoon. Beside laying on the beach, you can ride around the island on ATVs, hike the Santorini volcano, and enjoy some of the most delicious Greek food in the world…gah, salivating just thinking about this.

For beer-loving couples who want to honeymoon in a city with gorgeous architecture and rich history, look no further than Prague. The people of the Czech Republic are friendly, welcoming, and genuinely happy to be past the age of communism. Prague is surrounded by beautiful countryside and many other small, charming, towns that make amazing beer. Some of our favorite things to do in the Czech Republic include beer (and non-alcoholic beer) tasting, underground tours, and panning for garnets in a countryside river.
There are so many fun things to do in Sydney for couples so it is only right that we include it on our best honeymoon destinations 2019 list. The city itself offers couples a plethora of restaurants to enjoy and the beaches are…well, gorgeous. From the national park to Manly Beach, you’ll find no shortage of gorgeous coastline.
This gorgeous island in Thailand has yet to be overrun by tourism and is still a wonderful destination to escape the crowds and madness of Bangkok. Koh Phi Phi seems to have too much of a party/backpacker vibe for us to have considered it for this list, but Koh Samui has Four Seasons and, well, just that means something. Four Seasons are INCREDIBLY selective about where they choose to put their resorts and so you know that Koh Samui has their vote of confidence. The island itself is surrounded by a gorgeous reef that makes for great diving and snorkeling.
You all know that Bali is one of our favorite destinations on earth. After having spent 2 months living there in 2015 while Alex got her yoga teacher cert, we immediately fell in love. We have been back a number of times, especially after moving to Perth. Bali is only a 3-hour flight from Perth, so it just might be the best honeymoon destination for Australians. Four Seasons Sayan earned the accolade #1 resort in the world, so you can pretty much go there, burn your passport, and never leave.
2019 has been a very good year for tourism in Positano. With seemingly more couples visiting Positano and the greater Amalfi Coast this year than ever, Positano is becoming one of Europe’s most popular honeymoon destinations. Positano is in close proximity to all the other gorgeous cities along the Amalfi Coast like Ravello, Amalfi, Atrani, and Sorrento and is only a 1.5 hour drive from Naples if you’re craving pizza. You can also take a ferry to Capri if you’re craving an island adventure.
Positano is our favorite place in the world. It’s where we got engaged and it’s a destination we return to as often as we possibly can. There are plenty of romantic things to do in Positano and we even prepared a guide for you if you’re curious how to get to Positano.
We had to give our new home some love here because Western Australia simply has some of the most gorgeous beaches in the world. Cottesloe is a suburb of Perth, WA and is a honeymoon oasis that has yet to be exploited by tourism. There are somehow 2 million people in Perth, but the city feels incredibly empty. There is never traffic, the beaches are almost invariably wide-open, and the views look that that above….yeah…
Cottesloe, and Perth, in general, are a short flight or a days drive from amazing destinations like Broome, Esperance, and other remote coastal destinations that would also be worth a visit on your honeymoon.
Singapore is one of the most remarkable cities/countries on the planet. Itβs proximity to the equator also makes it one of the most humid cities on the planet. They say they easiest job in the world is being the Singaporean weather girl, βSo today it will be hot and humid and then it will rain briefly.β The weather will invariably be hot, so leave your pants at home – hey…perfect for a honeymoon, right? π
As one of the most unique cities in the world, there is never of a shortage of things to do in Singapore. If you want both a city and island honeymoon destination, Singapore might before you as it is both a city, an island and a small country. Assuming you have an extended period of time to travel for your honeymoon, Singapore’s proximity to the rest of Asia makes it easy to visit other destinations as well.
Sardegna (as the Italians spell it) is a massive island off the coast of western Italy. Well, compared to Australia, it’s not a huge island, but considering it took us 4+ hours to drive from the northside of the island to the south, we can attest to the fact that it is BIG. Sardinia is literally encompassed by 1,849 KM (1,149 miles) of gorgeous coastline, so you can’t choose a bad place on the island for a honeymoon. The island is so big that we will need another couple of trips before we are able to see all of the places on our bucket list.
Shit…did we choose another island? Sorry! haha. Mondello is one of the most gorgeous beaches on the island of Sicily and isn’t at all popular amongst American tourists. It’s relative proximity to Palermo makes it easy reach, yet it is remote enough that the mountains enveloping it almost cut it off from the real world. Mondello is a quaint, relaxing town with DELICIOUS food. There is plenty of aquatic activity if you’re keen to play, and for those of you who just want to relax, the beaches are some of the most beautiful in the world.
Ever heard of it? No, we didn’t think so. Liechtenstein is one of the smallest and richest countries on Earth. Situated in the mountains near Switzerland, it is the perfect destination for both a summer honeymoon or a winter honeymoon. During the summer you can hike, explore castles, swim in lakes, rivers, and streams, and during the winter you can ski or snowboard, drink hot chocolate, and cuddle up near a warm fire. If you’d prefer, you can always honeymoon in Zurich and plan a day trip to Liechtenstein.
