August 18, 2017Our affair with the Four Seasons has turned into something more similar to a passionate love. As you guys might remember, we first stayed with Four Seasons at the Four Seasons Bali properties (Sayan and Jimbaran). Since then, we have had the opportunity to visit Four Seasons Westlake (on multiple occasions), and now two of the three Thailand properties.
Four Seasons Thailand provides guests the opportunity to experience many areas of Thailand should one choose to stay at each property. The three properties that are spread across the beautiful country of Thailand are:
Four Seasons Thailand Resorts
Four Seasons Koh Samui (our personal favorite in Thailand)
Four Seasons Tented Camp Golden Triangle (which we, unfortunately, did not get the chance to visit)
Each property is both unique, yet still in line with what one might expect from a Four Seasons: The best resorts in the world. Four Seasons provides guests more than a place to rest their heads at night. Four Seasons provides culinary and cultural experiences enhanced by world-class service. Four Seasons provides spa experiences unrivaled anywhere on earth. They also provide pretty much anything their guests desire. I’m not sure we have heard the word, “no” while staying at a Four Seasons property.
As we were unable to stay at the Tented Camp, we will instead break down an overview of our stay at Koh Samui and Chiang Mai, respectively.
Four Seasons Koh Samui
Wow! Wow! Wow! This place is what Four Seasons (FS) is all about. The property nestles into a hillside cover on the northwest coast of Koh Samui. On the property, guests will find private beaches, crystal clear water, beautiful coral reef, some of the most amazing resort villas we have ever found in the world, 5-star restaurants, and a spa semi-hidden in the jungle.
What to do at Four Seasons Koh Samui
Every FS property offers a plethora of activities for guests. Here are some of our favorites:
EAT!
There are a number of restaurants on the property, all equally delicious. Each boasts a smorgasbord of selection but each also offers a different culinary experience. Your options are:
- Pla Pla (our favorite) – Mediterranean food (Yes, in Thailand. Trust us.)
- CoCoRum – Latin American options
- Koh Tai Kitchen – Southern Thai food
Pla Pla and CoCoRum also have the benefit of being down at the beach/pool. Pla Pla is elevated, yet has a breathtaking panoramic view of the island’s coral encompassed coast.
Sports and activities
The resort provides guests the opportunity to participate in both sports (such as beach volleyball) as well as water sports and activities (such as kayaking, stand up paddle, etc.). FS Koh Samui also has a beautiful yoga studio.
BEACH!
The reason you’re on Koh Samui is for the gorgeous beaches. Spend some time down at the beach and you can double up on beach + eating. Servers will happily bring you food down to a beach chair/cabana.
Stay fit!
The gym at Four Seasons Koh Samui is one of the cleanest, nicest, gyms we have ever used that not only has a gorgeous view of the coastline but also is fully stacked with the best equipment on the market.
Four Seasons Chiang Mai
Four Seasons Chiang Mai is a beautiful property in the countryside of Chiang Mai. If you’ve ever been to Chiang Mai or have seen pictures, you’re well aware that it’s quite unique. It has a city center that is busy, filled with shops and markets, and densely populated but it also has beautiful mountains and countryside which is inhabited by a myriad of animals.

EAT!
Duh! You guys will probably never see us write something about Four Seasons that doesn’t highlight to culinary options on the respective property. FS Chiang Mai surprisingly offers Italian and Indian options as well as local Thai favorites. The property has the following options:
- Rim Tai Kitchen
- Terraces
- Ratree Bar and Lounge
Local Activities
Four Seasons is notorious for creating experiences that enable guests to immerse themselves in the local culture and experience things the locals experience. Activities at FS Chiang Mai include:
- Bathing a water buffalo
- Cooking classes at Rim Tai Kitchen
- Traditional rice planting
- Relax in the pool all day (What we did! Haha we were lazy that day)
- Yoga and fitness (there is a lovely yoga studio on the pond/near the rice terraces and the fitness center is quite nice as well)
