1. Qatar Airways: Best Overall International Airline

Qatar Airways is a strong all-round choice when a connection in Doha fits naturally into the journey. AirlineRatings placed it first among full-service airlines for 2026.

Its route map is particularly useful for travel between North America or Europe and destinations in South Asia, Southeast Asia, Africa and Australia. Hamad International Airport also allows many of these trips to be completed with one connection rather than several shorter flights.

Couples considering business class may be drawn to Qsuite. The suite is installed on refurbished Boeing 777-300ER aircraft rather than Cathay Pacific’s entire long-haul fleet.

Hong Kong is a useful connection point for China, Japan, South Korea and Southeast Asia, although Cathay Pacific is most attractive when the itinerary already passes through the region.
